Never Judge A Book By Its Cover…

Posted by: Lizzie | October 28, 2009 | 7 Comments |

InkheartSome books just stand on a shelf collecting dust because of the unappealing cover or boring title. But some books should be read.

Have you ever had an amazing book in your hand and you never want to put it down? Just think for a minute… I bet you have. I have read many books, but I have to admit that many I have put down and never picked up again. One of my favorite books was called Inkheart. I loved the first book in the series, finished the second but got lost on the third. The first was by far the best, but when I watched the movie it changed my opinion a lot. They cut out parts and added new ones. Nothing was the same… That shows it is better to read the book than watch the movie (even though I am a HUGE movie fan!).

Inkheart By Cornelia Funke

Lots of books are chosen by their cover. That’s why a book cover should always have detail. Inkheart has many different covers and all have great detail. Of course a book needs good work on the inside to and that is what the book Inkheart captured. All its words flow smoothly together in every sentence. The words take you into a different world… a world of mystery and despair. I loved the book and actually bought it! You should really read it!

Hello from Dalian, China!
I agree with you Lizzie, a book has to have a good inside too, though many times I have been attracted to a book because of its’ cover. I am also a big movie fan, but I make it a rule to always read the book before seeing the movie. I did this with the Lord of the Rings series, reading each book a month or so before the movies came out.
I still have not seen the Twilight movie because I read the first 3 books and I want to read the 4th, Breaking Dawn, with my own impressions of what everyone looks like, (before the movie makes me think differently).
Have you ever seen the movie first and then read the book? How does that change the reading experience for you?

@ David Truss:
Once I think about it… I don’t think I have! Even though I agree with what you said about the movie changing your thoughts. Sometimes everything is different but in some movies they choose the perfect actors and sets!
My sisters have both read the Twilight series but I have only watched the movie. I really am not sure if I will read the book.
Sometime it is true how you can be attracted to a book by its cover! I deffinitly have! It just really depends on the back cover for me. The teaser really asks me if I want to read the book.

Hey Lizzie,
The book Inkheart sounds good! I’ve never read it. I almost got it from the library but a different book caught my eye, one of my favorite series Bone. I read the first one then I just had to read the second one I love Bone. I got through all the Bone books. When I got to the last book number 9 and I got to the very last page and it said The End! and I’m like NOO! I was sad it was over so I’m reading it all over again. My favorite book out of all the Bone series is number 5 Rock Jaw. It is so good. If you havn’t read the Bone series I recommend Bone if you havn’t already read it.

Thanks Savannah!
I haven’t read the bone series yet, but I think I will start reading it sometime soon!
